Tests &Trials Surah Al-Kahf is the 18th chapter of the Quran. Have ever reflected why we should recite this surah on a weekly basis? of course other than the fact it is recommended by our beloved Prophet (SAW) Famous four stories mentioned: The People of Cave The Companion of Two Gardens Musa and Khidr Dhul Qarnayn But there is a fifth story, of Adam & Iblees mentioned too. We all know the lessons behind that, often repeated to serve as a reminder of the enmity of shaytan to Bani Adam. It may seem that none of these stories are related to one another, but we see that the purpose or theme of all these stories are about same thing: Fitnah! Surah Al-Kahf explains Fitnah in different aspects of life. 1.Fitnah of Religion (Story of the People of the Cave) 2.Fitnah of Wealth (Story of the Man with Two Gardens) 3.Fitnah of Knowledge (Story of Musa and Khidr) 4.Fitnah of Power (Dhul Qarnain) Each week we are tried & tested with different fitna and such is the reality of life, its a place of testing not a place to be resting. When we are tested its an opportunity to be upgraded to a higher status before Allah. You maybe thinking how can I cope with it, well the formula is mentioned in the Quran; Alhamdulillah! And We will most certainly try you with somewhat of fear and hunger and loss of property and lives and fruits; and give good news to the patient, Surah Al-Baqara, Verse 156: الَّذِينَ إِذَا أَصَابَتْهُم مُّصِيبَةٌ قَالُوا إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ Who, when a misfortune befalls them, say: Surely we are Allah's and to Him we shall surely return. When we respond with patience and remember Allah we will enjoy the fruits of patience as mentioned in the following passage 2:157 * Blessings * Mercy * Guidance But the thing is, often we get suprised by the arrival of tests when Allah (SWT) already informed us that tests will come our way. Friday reading of this surah should prepare us for the coming of tests on a weekly basis, so makesure you remind yourself well today. #jumua
